Sweden returns to Salone del Mobile after nearly a decade
After nearly a decade, Sweden returns to Salone del Mobile with a renewed national presence showcasing contemporary design rooted in craftsmanship, material knowledge, and long-term thinking. Stockholm Furniture Fair is a proud partner of Stay timeless with Swedish design – the Swedish Pavilion at Salone del Mobile 2026, a joint initiative by Business Sweden, the Embassy of Sweden in Rome, The Swedish Institute, and TMF, curated by NAVET.
The exhibition Stay timeless with Swedish design brings together a curated selection of Swedish companies whose work reflects a distinct design philosophy: enduring aesthetics, responsible use of materials, and products designed for longevity rather than trends.
“It is very encouraging that Sweden is once again represented with a pavilion at Salone del Mobile in Milan. The participation of the eight Swedish companies underscores the strength, innovative capacity, and international relevance that characterize Swedish design, where craftsmanship, quality, and sustainable materials are at the core. We are proud to present Swedish design as a reliable and long-term value-creating partner on one of the world’s most important platforms for the furniture and design industry”, says Karin Höglund, Ambassador of Sweden to Italy.
Many of the participating companies are family-owned businesses, where knowledge and manufacturing traditions have been passed down through generations. Together, they represent a design culture shaped by continuity, where tradition, entrepreneurship, and contemporary design intersect.
Designed by the architecture studio NAVET, the pavilion offers a spatial experience inspired by openness and material honesty. The structure creates a welcoming environment where visitors can explore Swedish design, meet the companies, and engage with the stories behind the products and materials.
The pavilion presents companies working across furniture, textiles, and product innovation, illustrating the vastness of contemporary Swedish design.
“This return to Salone marks an important moment to reposition Swedish design internationally, not as something seasonal, but as something built to last,” says Pelle Jacobson, Trade Commissioner at Business Sweden.
