Interior design fair Formex held August 23-26 2017, welcomes 21 bright talents to the area Young Designers, a platform for young, up-and-coming designers. The contrast between form and material, cultural encounters, and the tools of the craft all act as sources of inspiration for some of the designers who will be exhibiting at this fall’s edition.

The nominees for the Formex Nova Design Award – 2017 Nordic Designer of the Year, which will be awarded on August 23, have now been announced. The award was established by the Formex interior design fair seven years ago to promote high-quality Nordic design. It goes to a young designer who is working in the Nordic region, and the winner will be selected by an expert jury.
The European Biomass Conference and Exhibition celebrates this year its 25th edition in Stockholm. With a full agenda of horizontal topics the EUBCE is a key event for the biomass and bioenergy community. A unique platform promoting the transfer of knowledge and expertise among research, industry and policy makers.
Nordic Space was the theme of the most recent Formex. The next Formex in August will be inspired by the same theme, but with one major difference – instead of looking outward, the reference to “space” turns inward. “we present the season’s main theme for interiors and design as well as three current trends,” says Christina Olsson, Project Area Manager for Formex.
The interest in booking a spot at Nordbygg is higher than ever. A full 77 per cent of Nordbygg's rentable space is booked in February 2017. Inwido, Bramsiq and Hultafors are three experienced exhibitors who are investing in Nordbygg 2018.
Last weekend, Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair closed its doors on this year's event. The fair is continuing to grow and strengthen its position as the world’s largest and most important meeting place for Scandinavian design. The number of foreign visitors increased by more than 6.5% to almost 10,700 and represented a record-setting 80 countries.
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair’s award - Editors’ Choice - will be handed out for the second consecutive year. The jury consists of Editors-in-Chief from several of Europe’s most important design forums. The 2017 jury consists of Marcus Fairs, Dezeen, Robert Thiemann, Frame magazine, Chantal Hamaide, Intramuros and Costas Voyatzis, Yatzer.
February 7-11, it is time for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, the world's largest meeting place for Scandinavian design. Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 7-11, 2017 invites the visitor to enter the Hayon DNA Gallery, a unique structure designed by this year´s Guest of Honour – the Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon. The installation is characterized with his typical blend of fantasy, whimsy and craftsmanship
The jury-selected award Formex Formidable 2016 goes to Stelton for its Collar collection, which consists of a coffee grinder, mocha pot, milk jug and sugar bowl. The collection was designed by Daniel Debiasi and Federico Sandri. The People’s Choice award, which is selected by the general public, goes to Skrufs glasbruk’s bowl with spout designed by Carina Seth Andersson.
At Fomrex, the largest meeting place for nordic interior and design, January 18-21, 2017, visitors are treated to several design experiences. For example, the winner of Formex Formidable, an annual design award, will be announced and the rug as an object of art and design will be highlighted in its own exhibition.
Greenhouse, Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair’s hall for young and unestablished designers, is a stepping stone for many of tomorrow’s design stars.The jury has now selected who will exhibit in 2017, including names such as Lies-Marie Hoffmann, Frag Woodall, Studio Føy and yuue design. In total, 31 designers or design teams and 31 design colleges from 18 countries will be taking part.
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 7-11, 2017, offers a forum for knowledge and discussions within the area of design and architecture, Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks. The forum will have a theme this year of “Sustainability Thinking”.
We are now seeing many exciting design collaborations, where a new generation of designers is showing an interest in and a desire to work with Swedish craft companies. Combined with new digital technologies and innovative design, these collaborations are resulting in unique, contemporary products that have unmistakable ties to the past.
