Formex, the largest meeting place for Nordic interior design, came to a successful conclusion last weekend.The fair attracted a total of 20,703 visitors from 9,413 companies.11% of these companies came from countries other than Sweden, which is a larger percentage than ever before.
The winner of the 2013 Nova Designer Award is Mattias Stenberg from Studio Vision.The Jury’s motivation for picking him was for “a style brimming with confidence”.The Nova Design Award has been instituted by Formex, one of Stockholmsmässan’s flagship events and the leading trade fair for Nordic interior design.
In the Entrance Hall at Formex, household furnishings chain Habitat has put together a lounge created by interior designer and stylist Per Wennberg. The lounge is a place for visitors to take timeout away from all the impressions. It’s a place to reflect and chat.
Many of today's established designers have had their breakthrough after exhibiting at Young Designers, Formex's platform for young, up-and-coming designers. In addition to Young Designers, Formex also has Next Step, which is for exhibitors that have come a little further along in their establishment phase. Young Designers is being organized for the eleventh time and Next Step for the seventh time.
The nominations are complete for Formex's Nova Design Award, which will be awarded for the third year in a row on August 15th. The award will go to a young designer working in the Nordic Region and is selected by an expert jury.
Eclecticism, Formalism, Maximalism and Materialism, at Trend Zone, Formex's section for trend inspiration, four of the season's most important trends are presented in an exhibition that is put together by the Swedish Fashion Council (Svenska Moderådet).
It's time to apply to Greenhouse at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2014. It’s time again: Stockholmsmässan’s main entrance will be turning back into a busy building site for the next few months. This is the final phase of building work and on 14 August – just one day before the first exhibition of the fall opens – the gleaming new entrance area will be finished.

The European Association for the Study of Diabetes, EASD, has chosen Stockholm as the site of its major conference in the autumn of 2015. The city will thus be hosting the event for the fourth time. The decision was motivated by Stockholm's good conditions and Stockholmsmässan's long experience in arranging international conferences.
The 62nd Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair – the world’s largest meeting place for Scandinavian furniture and lighting design – took place on 5-9 February. 729 exhibitors from 31 countries came together under Stockholmsmässan’s roof to showcase innovations in furniture, lighting and textiles for homes and public spaces.

The final edition of Hello! gets under way on 5 February at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair. Running for a three-year period and initiated by the Fair, the project has chosen communication as its theme this year. Architect Gert Wingårdh and Finnish illustrator Kustaa Saksi have joined creative forces to design the installation.

Formex continues to cement its position as the leading event in Nordic interior design. The spring fair attracted 864 exhibitors, 887 media representatives and 23,903 visitors from 48 countries. The Formex team had picked the theme “Fresh” to inspire and spread happiness after a period of darkness, and this was very well received by exhibitors and visitors alike.
An elephant in a china shop? No – just heavy industrial robots in a landscape of glass. As part of Stockholm Design Week 4-10 February 2013, Glass Elephant, a design installation in the borderland between industrial design, craftsmanship and performance, is on show in the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities’ Skeppsholmen Caverns.

Winner of the Nova Design Award 2012, Mari Isopahkala, will be appearing in person and exhibiting her products at Formex next week. An exhibition of her work will run concurrently at Gallery Pascale – a chance for the general public to admire her designs. Participation at Formex and the exhibition at Gallery Pascale is part of the Nova Design Award, which is presented at the fall Formex each year.
