Press release -

Linda Mutawi named Producer on the Move

Producer Linda Mutawi has been selected to represent Sweden in European Film Promotion’s prestigious Producers on the Move 2026 program. Each year, the program brings together 20 promising producers from across Europe during the Cannes Film Festival to foster new international collaborations and strengthen European film production. The Swedish Film Institute nominates Sweden’s participant.

– Representing Sweden in Producers on the Move at Cannes Film Festival is both an honor and a recognition of the work we are building with Fikra. We develop international films centered on strong directorial voices, with a drive to explore identities, cultures, and values. Producers on the Move gives me the opportunity to deepen existing relationships and create new ones, as well as to engage with colleagues in the industry about how we can shape a film industry willing to take on the stories the world truly needs to hear, says Linda Mutawi.

Linda Mutawi is a Stockholm-based producer and co-founder of the production company Fikra. She has an international background with experience from United Kingdom, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Sweden, and throughout her career has worked in both fiction film and documentary. She is an alumna of the EAVE Producers Workshop and the PGA Diversity Workshop.

Among her most notable achievements is her work on Eagles of the Republic by Tarik Saleh, produced together with Linus Stöhr Torell, Johan Lindström, and Alexandre Mallet-Guy, which premiered in the main competition at Cannes Film Festival 2025. She has also been involved in Boy from Heaven, winner of Best Screenplay at Cannes Film Festival, as well as The Nile Hilton Incident. On the documentary side, she has produced Children of Camp Ashraf by Sara Moein and Dreams of Djenné by Elisabet Gustafsson.

– Linda Mutawi is a producer with a strong international outlook and represents a contemporary generation of Swedish producers with both artistic excellence and global reach. Being selected as Producer on the Move the year after having a film in competition at Cannes Film Festival gives Linda a unique opportunity to build new alliances that can help realize future projects. We have seen that those who have taken part in this program often return to Cannes a few years later with films in the festival, frequently produced together with the contacts they made during their time as Producer on the Move, says Petter Mattsson, Head of International Operations.

Producers on the Move is one of Europe’s leading networking programs for producers. Participants meet potential co-producers and sales companies, and take part in pitch sessions, case studies, networking events, and joint communication initiatives. The 2026 program combines digital pre-meetings ahead of the festival with a four half-day on-site program in Cannes.
