TikTok Announced as Headline Partner of EGX 2023

Thursday 7 September, London: ReedPop has today announced that TikTok will be the headline partner of EGX 2023. Taking place between 12–15 October at ExCel London, EGX is the UK’s biggest video game fan convention.

Together, TikTok and EGX will be creating unmissable fan experiences throughout the show, with attendees and creators able to visit the TikTok Lounge, and fans given the opportunity to meet their favourite creators including Nick and Cam (@ItsNickandCam), Charlotte Murphy (@Tigressx), Callum Knight (@CPK) and more to be announced.

Rollo Goldstaub, Head of Sport and Gaming UKI and Nordics, at TikTok said: “TikTok is home to a richly diverse community of gamers who are showing up on the platform every day, connecting with each other and sharing all the moments that make playing games so enjoyable, from unbelievable skills to entertaining reactions.

EGX is the perfect celebration of everything gaming has to offer, bringing together players, creators, fans and the entire industry. Following our successful presence last year, we can’t wait to be back in October as the headline partner and share this landmark event with TikTok’s global audience.”

TikTok partnered creators will be venturing out across the show floor at EGX, checking out all the major stands and creating moments to share with their millions of followers around the world.

"TikTok is a dream partner for EGX,” said Jenny Martin, Event Director, ReedPop. “Our shared passion for gaming and bringing video game communities together make it a perfect match, and together we’ll make this year’s EGX a show to remember, with more than ever for attendees to enjoy.”

The gaming community on TikTok continues to evolve and grow, connecting gamers from around the world through gameplay, tutorials, cosplay and memes. Watching, creating, and engaging with gaming content on TikTok is on the rise: hashtags like #Gaming (488 billion views), #GamingOnTikTok (60 billion views), #GamingSetup (15.6 billion views) or #GamingLife (9.2 billion views) are growing in popularity every day.

EGX 2023 will offer players the chance to play the latest games, attend fascinating panels, talks and sessions from the industry’s top creative minds and discover dazzling indie gems in the Rezzed Zone and The Leftfield Collection.

Fans will also be able to visit the GI Academy for career advice from industry experts, and watch or take part in the returning EGX Cosplay Championship and various esports tournaments taking place over the four days.

Among the many talks and panels set to take place, the now-annual Sea of Thieves panel will see developers and fans converging to celebrate and discuss Rare’s hugely popular swashbuckling action-adventure game.

Aspiring pirates can also meet their favourite Sea of Thieves content creators after the panel, including Behaving Beardly, Spammals, YooKay, MotherOfChickens, Foxdle, MicroMads, and Beardageddon.

There will also be a panel to mark 25 years of beloved platformer Banjo-Kazooie, with fans able to hear from speakers Grant Kirkhope (composer), Chris Sutherland (lead programmer and voice artist), Steve Mayles (Senior Artist), and Ed Bryan (character artist and animator).

On EGX’s opening day, The Dark Room will be heading to the EGX theatre for people to take on the text-based video game IRL in an interactive and insane live-action video game experience. In addition to this, learn from Benni Hill and David Housden at the World Building through Music and Narrative panel.
