Approximately 13,000 digital professionals were surveyed as part of the annual Digital Trends survey carried out at the end of 2017 and the start of 2018. The report is based on a sample of almost 600 senior retail leaders. The survey showed that customer experience was high on the agenda, with 19% of those surveyed choosing customer experience as their most exciting opportunity this year.

In the survey, retailers identified customer experience as the most popular means to differentiate themselves. 26% of survey respondents stated that through fun, easy and valuable interactions with customers, they will seek to stand out from the competition.
