Chicago based direct sales and marketing specialists NRG Global Inc. discuss the importance of learning from mistakes and the common problems that you should avoid making. The firm has published their list of 4 big mistakes that you should avoid making.

It's not uncommon to make mistakes, after all, we are only human, many issues we face can be used to our benefit. As experiences to learn and better ourselves, however, here are 4 BIG mistakes you should avoid making full stop.

About the firm: http://www.nrgglobalinc.com/why-people-are-outsourcing/

1.) Not spending enough time with the right people:

Not many things will be as limiting on your development like spending time with the wrong people. They will bring you down, limit your ability to grow and distract you from your goals.

Embed yourself with likeminded people that will inspire you to be your best. You need to find those that will offer you any of the following:

  • Add value to yourself; they bring the best out of you with their honesty, experience and wisdom
  • Continually grow. Find people that value your development as well as their own.
  • Enjoy life. Those that bring negativity, a lack of enthusiasm for anything and a sense of adventure. Those that possess the opposite should be avoided.

2.) Avoiding what needs to be said:

It takes courage to be able to speak your mind, it can often be daunting and often leaves you exposed. But when you say what needs to be said and not what others want to hear can often be the most invaluable feedback you can give. It's also important to express yourself.

3.) Putting off taking action:

Possibly the most common regret anyone has. Procrastination is the biggest thief opportunity. You need to change the attitude and application that you have. Getting ready to get ready, planning to start and having the intention to do something are all well and good but having the intent to accomplish something won't actually get it done. It's important to spend a few minutes each day making a list of what you want to achieve for the next day’s, weeks and months ahead.

4.) Don’t allow others to control your destiny:

The majority of us at some point will or has experienced pressure to go along with agents that have been pushed in our faces. It can be anything from a good friend forcing you to go out despite the financial restrictions you have or not focusing on what’s important or colleagues sending funny viral videos and pictures and putting you off your work. It's allowing someone dictate your ability to be in control even if the person means well. It takes courage to get up and change direction and regain control of your life choices
