TROVEK welcome the news that Birmingham House of Fraser has been saved from closure
2018 has been a tough year for the retail sector. Many high street staples have fallen victim to a drop in revenue due to the increase in online competition. As news broke last week that the Birmingham House of Fraser store had been saved from closure, TROVEK applauded.

While House of Fraser has yet to confirm the news, staff revealed they had been told the store had been saved. The department store is among numerous retail companies struggling to sustain profitable sales in the face of online competition and rising property costs. In the last ten months, 50,000 retail jobs have been lost. House of Fraser is currently in the process of closing three of its 59 stores after being bought out of administration by Mike Ashley’s, Sports Direct. The takeover has saved at least 20 stores, safeguarding around 3,500 jobs. The Corporation Street store was one of the dozens earmarked to shut before the chain was bought by Sports Direct for £90m.
The news secures the jobs of 600 staff employed at the store. Several stores across the UK have already been given the news that they will remain open. Owner Mike Ashley has promised to inject fresh life into the estate.
As a Birmingham-based business, TROVEK were delighted with the news. The firm believes that the high street is a valuable asset that needs to be protected. ‘High street retailers are really struggling to compete with online companies; however the one advantage they have to offer is the personal touch,’ commented Dwayne Foster, CEO at TROVEK. The business owner believes the power of human interactions should not be undervalued. As a company that specialises in face-to-face promotional marketing and sales campaigns, the direct-marketing firm believes that retailers need to focus on creating a better customer experience.
TROVEK CEO Dwayne Foster argues that human interactions are powerful and that retailers should capitalise on their USP which is face-to-face interactions with consumers. ‘In a time where there is a wealth of buying options for the consumer and brand loyalty is falling, companies need to focus on building relationships with their customers and creating an impactful interaction that will compel them to return,' commented Mr Foster.
TROVEK is a young, fresh and dynamic, Birmingham-based direct marketing firm specialising in lead generation, campaign development and brand loyalty through personalised marketing solutions. Specialising in face-to-face promotional marketing and sales campaigns, they take a keen interest in the state of the high street.
