Road closure – Heywood Road in Prestwich

A deep hole has appeared in the middle of the carriageway on Heywood Road between numbers 186 and 188.

Currently, the collapse of a United Utilities sewer is suspected as the cause.

An emergency closure has been put in place on Heywood Road between Gleeblands Road and Gilmore Drive. The diversion route is via Bury Old Road, Scholes Lane and Bury New Road.

This section of Heywood Road will be closed until investigations have taken place by United Utilities. Works are expected to take between two and three weeks. The bus companies and emergency services have been notified.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused but the safety of the public is paramount at all times.
