Workshop to prepare businesses affected by new laws to protect animals

Tougher new licensing rules to better protect thousands of animals were introduced on 1 October as part of a swathe of reforms to safeguard the welfare of Britain’s pets.

These rules tighten up laws around selling pets, breeding dogs and the business of caring for animals.

The rules also cover how pet shops, dog home boarders, kennels, catteries and day care centres are licensed. They introduce a single ‘animal activities licence’ to improve the process and make enforcement easier.

The Greater Manchester Regulatory Centre of Excellence has enlisted the expert assistance of barrister Malcolm Hope to provide a series of workshops for businesses across Greater Manchester who are affected by the new laws and to ensure they are prepared for the changes.

After the success of the home boarding workshop held in September, they are holding another event on 7 November between 5.30pm and 9.30pm in the Council Chamber at Bury Town Hall. Places cost £45 per person. To register your interest in this workshop, please contact nick.reddrop@salford.gov.uk
