Are you man enough to take the Pie Challenge?

Hungry volunteers are needed for a Man v Pie contest – and vegetarians will be as welcome as the carnivores.

A special “screaming chickpea” pie has been produced for the Ramsbottom Pie Festival, which is on Sunday 7 July at St Paul’s Church in Bridge Street from 10.30am.

Four contestants are needed to take the pie-eating challenge – how many of these spicy veggie concoctions can you eat in just five minutes?

Barry Haworth of pie producers Cissy Green said: "We've never been involved in a vegetarian pie-eating contest before and are over the moon to have been asked. The event promises to be as successful as the town’s other festivals such as Chocolate Festival."

Ruth Shedwick, town centre business support, said: “I'm delighted to bring another successful event into the festival calendar. Our independent retailers will be putting on special pies for the occasion which really shows a great community spirit in the town."

The event promises to be a tasty celebration of the humble to the exotic, with local traders putting on their star pies. The festival features eating contests, a 'best pie' competition, fete games, live bands and more.

It’s free to enter the pie eating contest. And remember, you can still enter into the ‘best pie’ competition – for both, simply email towncentresteam@bury.gov.uk
