Art workshop to keep young people safe

Young people aged from 10 to 16 are invited to an Art Workshop on Saturday 21 March.

The aim is to engage with young people in a creative way on serious issues surrounding their safety, and will help organisers in how they target services with a particular focus on organised crime and child sexual exploitation.

It takes place at The Green Cafe in Clarence Park, Bury from 10am to 3pm, and is free of charge.

This is a joint project delivered by Bury Council Youth Service and Early Break, and will feed into a larger Home Office pilot project.

The workshop will start at 10am with a bit of fun, as participants are asked to design an Egg Rocket. A team challenge, the rocket that travels furthest with a surviving egg will win a prize.

After lunch, the workshops begin in earnest. Young people will be asked to think about where they live in Bury and where is safe, and what makes it safe, and what they think about crime and how it affects them. They will then create four collages using a variety of pictures, painting, drawings and writings to get their messages across.
