Besses ward by-election on Thursday 4 May

A by-election will be held in Besses ward in Whitefield on Thursday 4 May.

The election has been prompted by the resignation of councillor Alan Matthews who, with 38 years’ service, was the longest serving member of Bury Council. He was also Mayor of Bury in 1989/90.

Anyone who wishes to stand as a candidate in the by-election has until 4pm on Tuesday 4 April to submit their nomination forms. Nomination papers can be collected from the elections office at Bury Town Hall.
