Bury Art Museum postcard auction raises £525 for mayor’s charities

Bury Art Museum has raised £525 for the mayor’s charities through a postcard exhibition and silent auction held at the gallery at the end of 2022.

Made by local artists and drawing enthusiasts, some 136 postcard-sized artworks in a variety of media - ink, pencil, watercolour, felt tip, collage, crayon, biro and paint – were put on display.

People of Bury and further afield were invited to submit bids for the pieces with all proceeds going towards the Mayor of Bury’s charity appeal, of which Bury Hospice has been chosen as the main beneficiary.

Bury Art Museum prides itself in promoting art for everyone through its programme of exhibitions and events. Its next drawing event ‘Skratchbook Social’, a lively costume drawing evening with music and refreshments, will be held on 10 March (7.30pm to 9.30pm) and all are welcome.

These type of events support Bury Art Museum’s ‘Sketchbook STILL Social’ digital hub which aims to continue lively and informal creative engaement online.
