Bury Council Statement on SEND White Paper

Bury Council welcomes the publication of the government’s SEND white paper and will take time to carefully review and reflect on its findings.

Supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), alongside their families, remains our top priority. We are committed to delivering the best possible outcomes for every child, ensuring they have the right support at the right time to thrive.

We will work transparently with our staff, schools, health partners, providers and most importantly, families and carers to understand what the white paper means locally. Co-production with those who know children’s needs best will be at the heart of how we respond, and we will hold communications sessions over the coming weeks to gather your views.

Our teams remain focused on early identification, person-centred EHCPs, joined-up services and listening to families’ experiences. We will share more details as we digest the proposals and plan our next steps, but providing the right care to children and families in Bury remains our top priority.
