Press release -
Bury Market among nation’s top ten coach destinations
Bury Market has been placed in the top ten of coach destinations in the UK.
This latest accolade for the multi-award-winning market has been bestowed by CPT, the national body for the coach and bus industry, to mark National Coach Week.
CPT say:
“A favourite among coach groups, Bury Market in Greater Manchester combines traditional northern character with modern convenience. It’s no surprise the market hosted 1,200 coach visits last year - a 7.15% increase - and has been shortlisted for Britain’s Favourite Market 2025.”
The market offers free coach parking, and has a dedicated coach drop-off/pick-up point on the market to help visitors and shoppers.
Councillor Charlotte Morris, cabinet member for culture and the economy, said: “Those 1,200 coaches came from as far afield as Truro and Aberdeen, so there’s no doubt about it – the nation knows that Bury Market is the place to come for a fantastic atmosphere, bargains and a huge variety of stalls. That’s why we’re investing many millions of pounds into the market to ensure that it remains a much-loved attraction for many years to come.”
The other nine places on CPT’s top ten list are: Beamish Museum; Blackpool; RHS Garden Hyde Hall; Inverness; The Cotswolds; Dunfermline; Llandudno; Matlock Bath; and The Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh.
