Bury Market attracts record number of coach visits

Record-breaking numbers of coaches are arriving at Bury Market bringing visitors from across the nation.

New figures reveal that 1,235 coach visits were made in 2025, up 3% from 2024, from as far afield as Aberdeen and Truro.

The month with the most visits was November (187 coaches), followed by October (151), and September (112). The most popular market day for coach visits was Wednesday.

Based on postcode analysis, the most registered coach trips came from Sheffield, followed by Preston, Llandudno, Liverpool, and Hull.

Bury Market was recently placed in the top ten of coach destinations in the UK by CPT, the national body for the coach and bus industry.

The market offers free coach parking, and has a dedicated coach drop-off/pick-up point on the market to help visitors and shoppers.

Councillor Charlotte Morris, cabinet member for culture and the economy, said: “Bury Market is the place to come for a fantastic atmosphere, bargains galore and a huge variety of stalls – that’s why people are coming from far and wide to have a great day out.

“With the new market canopies we’ve installed, and the multi-million-pound flexi-hall on the way, we can look forward to many more visitors to our famous market for many years to come.”
