Bury Market welcomes its 1,000th coach of the year

One thousand coaches have now visited Bury Market this year bringing visitors from all over the UK and abroad.

The 1,000th coach came from Bwlchgwyn near Wrexham in North Wales and is home to George Edwards & Son, a tour operator which frequently schedules coach trips to Bury Market. The company which was established by George Edwards back in 1923 is now in its 90^th year of trading, and is still operated by the Edwards family

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Sharon Briggs, presented Paul Sneyd from George Edwards & Son with a certificate commemorating this milestone, and all his passengers received a free Bury Market shopping bag.

Andrew Heyes, Bury Markets manager, said: “The support we have from coach companies is fantastic and we try to make their visit to us as pleasant an experience as possible.

“The market has a huge variety of goods on sale and it is ideally situated - only minutes away from the motorway network. In addition, the free coach parking, coach drivers’ lounge and the free driver lunch voucher make it an ideal place to visit from an operator’s point of view.

“George Edwards & Son have been big supporters of the market so this award is rightly deserved. We hope our association with them continues for many years to come.”
