Bury Means Business: Meet The Provider partnership event

Calling all local businesses, healthcare professionals and community service providers!

Are you struggling to support your staff who have health problems, and worry about the effect on your business? Or do you work in the health sector and your patients have difficulties?

Bury Council aims to help by holding a Bury Means Business: Meet the Provider event on Wednesday 18 January 2017 at Bury Town Hall from 9am to 11am.

Councillor Trevor Holt, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “It can be challenging to offer the right support to individuals with a range of complex needs. Issues such as debt, substance misuse, housing problems and caring responsibilities can all affect a person’s health causing absence from work, or preventing customers from moving forward in their lives.

“We don’t always have the knowledge required to help someone overcome these barriers and improve their health, and sometimes we don’t even know that particular support services exist.”

Councillor Rishi Shori, leader of the council, added: “That’s why Bury Council is bringing these services together under one roof. From debt advice to mental health services, occupational health, lifestyle services and drug and alcohol support, providers will be there to discuss your needs and let you know how to access their service.

“Around 131 million days were lost due to sickness absence in 2013 at a cost of £29 billion for UK organisations. Simple and effective interventions could help you to prevent an individual from having a prolonged period of sickness absence, or needing more support further down the line. With more than 35 providers attending the event, why not come along and find out what’s available in Bury?”

To register your free place at the Meet the Provider event, call 0161 253 6535 or email investin@bury.gov.uk
