Bury nurses and community service shortlisted for prestigious awards

Two nurses employed by the Northern Care Alliance and working as part of Bury Council’s Urgent Community Response Service, Joanne Duxbury and Nicola Crombleholme, have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to community healthcare after being selected to receive the prestigious Queen's Nurse Award.

Awarded by The Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing, the award recognises nurses who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to improving patient care and supporting people in their communities.

The Urgent Community Response Service, delivered through a partnership between Bury Council and the Northern Care Alliance, provides rapid response, emergency falls response and Hospital at Home care. The service has also been shortlisted for the University of Manchester's External Partner of the Year award. The nomination recognises the service's ongoing commitment to supporting the development of future healthcare professionals through the provision of high-quality placement opportunities for medical students.

Both awards will be presented at separate ceremonies in November.

Councillor Tamoor Tariq, Cabinet Member for Adult Care, Health and Public Service Reform, said:

"This recognition is a fantastic reflection of the dedication, professionalism and compassion shown by our

staff every day. Our Urgent Community Response Service plays a vital role in helping residents receive the care they need at the right time and in the right place, often preventing unnecessary hospital admissions."

"To see Joanne and Nicola recognised through the Queen's Nurse Award, while the wider service is also acknowledged for supporting the education of future healthcare professionals, is something everyone involved should be immensely proud of.
