Bury’s latest bike library is now open!

The borough’s fourth Bike Library has now opened at Bury Library, following the previous successes at Radcliffe Library, Clarence Park and Openshaw Park.

The scheme is part of a TfGM programme to create a network of free bikes for people to use, promoting the benefits of cycling and encouraging people to be more active.

The latest Bike Library has been launched to celebrate the upcoming Tour of Britian, which returns to the borough on Sunday 3 September.

Bikes are free to loan out, and residents will need to complete a Bike Library membership form and sign a disclaimer. Please note: if you are not a current member of Bury Libraries you will need to join up as well, so please bring along some proof of your name and address.

You can borrow a bike for up to a week at a time and return it anytime the library is open. A bike lock will be provided for the duration of the bike loan.

Councillor Tamoor Tariq, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “Bike libraries are a great way to take up cycling and get moving more. It’s good for your physical and mental health, and all for free too!

“The first three have been a big success, and we have plans to open more bike libraries across the borough in the coming months.”
