Candidates declared for Tottington by-election
The candidates have been confirmed for the Tottington by-election which will take place on Thursday 2 April.
The full list of those standing for election are:
- Drew Keanu Bell - Labour
- Greg Keeley - Together for Bury
- Chloe King - The Green Party
- Emma Elizabeth Lee - The Conservative and Unionist Party
- George Henry Martin - Reform UK
Tottington residents will receive a polling card before the elections which tells you where your polling station is. These stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 2 April.
Remember – you will need to take photo ID with you to vote at a polling station on election day.

If you don’t have any of the eligible photographic IDs, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate from the Government. To apply, go to https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate or call the helpline 0800 328 0280. The deadline for applying for a VAC is 25 March.
Are you on the electoral register? If not, the deadline to register to vote in these elections is midnight on Tuesday 17 March 2026. To register, go to https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. You will be asked for your National Insurance number, but you can still register if you do not have one.
Postal voting - If you do not usually vote by post, you can apply online at https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote. You will need to apply by 5pm on Wednesday 18 March 2026. We will send you a ballot paper about two weeks before the day of the election. If you apply to vote by post, you will not be able to vote in person at a polling station.
Proxy voting - the deadline for applying for a proxy vote, where you allow someone you trust to vote on your behalf, is Wednesday 25 March 2026. Go to to https://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
The votes will be counted immediately after polls close and the results will be published on our website (www.bury.gov.uk) and on our social media channels.
