Car seized after owner did not pay 84 penalty tickets

Enforcement officers have seized a car in Bury town centre as a result of non-payment of parking tickets.

The Audi was taken away from The Rock yesterday after the owner did not pay 84 Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) for persistent parking on yellow lines and/or prohibited areas.

The owner will be required to pay the costs of removal and fines in order to recover their vehicle.

Councillor Sandra Walmsley, cabinet member for strategic housing and support services, said: “Persistent, irresponsible parking by a minority of drivers causes inconvenience and problems for law abiding drivers and, indeed, shopkeepers and pedestrians.

“We are determined to clamp down on motorists who deliberately and flagrantly flout the law and, working closely with the police, will take whatever steps are necessary.”
