Celebrate Bury’s sporting heroes and heroines

Nominations are being sought for Bury’s annual celebration of sporting excellence, the Bury 2014 Sports Awards.

The event this year will take place on 19 September at Radcliffe Civic Suite. Tickets for the event will include a three-course meal, entertainment, plus a guest speaker and the chance to celebrate Bury’s sporting talent.

The awards are organised by Bury Sport and Physical Activity Service and Radcliffe and Bury South Sports Forum. This year’s event is being supported by the I Will If You Will (IWIYW) programme,
which is a national programme running in Bury which aims to encourage more women and girls to get more active.

There is still time to nominate local people or groups for an award, in the following categories:
 

  • Volunteer of the year

 

  • Coach of the year

  • Sports achiever of the year

  • Disabled sports achiever

  • Club of the year

  • Unsung hero of the year

  • Changing lifestyle recognition award

  • IWIYW active female of the year

  • Primary school special recognition award

  • Secondary school special recognition award

For a nomination form, email sports.development@bury.gov.uk and either return it to that address or leave it at Castle Leisure Centre in Bury for Amy Goddard. Closing date for nominations is 8 August.
