Press release -

Changes to Bury’s local and family history sessions

The regular Family History Advice Surgery, held at Bury Art Museum & Archives, will move on 2 April from Thursday mornings to Tuesdays (10am to 12.30pm).

An expert from the Bury Branch of the Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society will be on hand to help with your research. There is no need to book an appointment - just drop in.

Family history surgeries, run by volunteers, are also held at the following libraries: Ramsbottom (every third Monday of the month, 1-5pm, and an appointment-only session on every third Thursday, 5.30-7pm); Radcliffe (every Friday, 10am to noon); and Tottington (Tuesdays, 10am to noon).

Members of Bury libraries have free unrestricted access to Ancestry and FindMyPast when they are in the library; alternatively, you can buy £5 vouchers to access FindMyPast from your home.

Experienced staff can carry out research on people’s behalf, for a small fee, on family or local history, or the history of a business or building. See our website for more details or contact information@bury.gov.uk or phone 0161 253 5871.

For information on the Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society see www.lfhhs.org.uk or contact the secretary of the Bury Branch at bury@lfhhs.or.uk.
