Charity swim in Radcliffe this Sunday for We Love Mcr

Staff at Radcliffe Leisure Centre are doing a 24-hour swim to help those affected by the Manchester Arena attack – and the public are invited to join them!

It takes place on Sunday (11 June), starting at 10.30am, and all proceeds from the day will go the British Red Cross’s We Love Mcr fund.

Pool staff were inspired to hold the event by the memory of Radcliffe man John Atkinson, who died in the attack and who was a regular member of the leisure centre.

In a real family day, the swimming marathon will be complemented by circus group Custardstorm, plus a bouncy castle, cake sale, sports events and a ‘family boogie bounce’. Two members of the GB polo team will also be there to add support.

One lane of the pool will have a staff member continuously swimming in it, but the other three lanes can be booked by members of the public wanting to join in and help fundraise.

For details, email l.caunce@bury.gov.uk or ring 0161 253 7000 and leave a message for Elizabeth Beck or Lee Caunce.
