Civic support for Blind Society’s fundraiser

More than £1,000 was raised at the annual Craft and Gift Show for Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People.

Sunday’s event (16 Nov) at Ramsbottom Civic Hall was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Bury, Councillor Sharon Briggs, and her mayoress Mrs Shirley Rabbitt.

The society’s Jill Logan said: “This was the fifth year holding our annual craft and gift show at Ramsbottom Civic Hall.  It’s always been an excellent fundraiser for the society, providing much needed funds to help us continue providing our support and service for people with a visual impairment throughout Bury.

“This year, however, we particularly need to raise funds as we have to replace the boiler at the centre where our clients meet, and we are looking to raise £3,000. This event brought in just over £1,000, which will help enormously towards our target.”
