Community groups benefit from Heaton Park concert funding for local good causes
Community groups across Prestwich are benefiting from a bumper £75,000 of funding awards secured by Bury Council to ensure community benefit from concert activity at Heaton Park
The funding, which is a significant increase on previous years, builds on the Parklife Community fund which over the past decade has resulted in more than £175,000 having been awarded to local community groups in the south of the Borough.
Through the Heaton Park Community Fund and latest round of the Parklife Community Fund, a total of 67 awards were made to local groups. The funding covers activities including wellbeing activities, resilience support to local groups, environmental projects, sports and leisure activity, and cultural celebrations celebrating the very best of Prestwich.
Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, climate change and operations, said: “This enhanced community fund builds on the Parklife Community fund which we have successfully secured since 2016. Given the large number of concertgoers attending gigs at Heaton Park during 2025, it was important to ensure local communities benefited through investment to improve lives for local people.
“We welcomed over 400,000 people to our borough and now, by bringing £75,000 into the local voluntary and community sector in Prestwich, this has brought a vital source of funding to a wealth of local groups who deliver amazing work year-round for local people and make a real difference to our communities. It is only right that they benefit from such funding so that they can continue to deliver activities and events for Prestwich communities.”
A celebration event with the successful projects will take place on 14 May in Prestwich, showcasing the organisations and activities, allowing the groups to further connect in on opportunities for future collaboration.
