Press release -

Connect four – young people the real winners

Ten young people aged 16 to 24 are a step nearer the world of work thanks to the Backing Young Bury project.

They completed a seven-week unpaid programme, nine of them with Bury Council and one with Best of Bury.

Eight of them have now gone on to a six-month paid position, with ongoing support being offered to the remaining two young people.

The programme tackles the many barriers that young people face in getting a job. It provides the opportunity to gain work experience, skills and employability training, take part in health and well-being workshops and sport sessions, and the help of a dedicated personal and career mentor.

This is Backing Young Bury’s fourth successful Connecting Provision Traineeship Programme intake, predominately funded by outside monies including AGMA City Deal funding. Partners include Bury Adult Learning, JobCentre Plus, Public Health, Work Programme Providers and Sports Development.
