Press release -

Could you adopt a child?

An open evening is being held for residents who are interested in adopting a child or simply want to find out more.

The event is held on Thursday 29 January (6-8pm) at the Children’s Services office in Higher Lane, Whitefield.

All are welcome to attend the open evening, but places must be booked in advance: call 0800 9555 311 or email Fosteringandadoption@bury.gov.uk

A Bury Council spokesman said: “At any one time, there are 4,000 children across England waiting for loving adoptive families. These children are different ages and come from a variety of backgrounds, but we believe that every child needs a loving home.

“Here in Bury, we’ve been successful recently in recruiting adopters so the number of children waiting for homes has thankfully reduced. But we always need more people to come forward and help give a child a new start in life.”

People from all walks of life and household circumstances can be considered to become adoptive parents, and the council offers a great deal of support. For more details about the adoption service, go to http://www.adoptfosterbury.org.uk/Adoption
