The big day is Saturday 23 March from 10am to 4pm, when all activities – swimming, gym sessions, racquet sports and classes – will be priced at 50p.

Some of the events:

  • Train on the treadmill, bike or cross-trainer for 50 mins and your distance will be recorded and there are prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
  • Dance through the ages with Julie from 1.30-3.30pm.
  • Swimming lessons - Enter your child into a draw to win £50 off your lessons, or two free months of Direct Debit payments (existing pupils only).
  • 50-day leisure centre membership for £35 – on the day only.
  • Wellness class (10.15-11am) and blood pressure checks (11.30-1.30pm).
  • Information stand and leaflets on healthy eating, smoking, alcohol and more.
  • Trampoline taster session (1-2pm).
  • Giveaways – while stocks last!

Councillor Tamoor Tariq, cabinet member for adult care, health and wellbeing, said: “Even the slightest bit of exercise is good for our health, and I’d encourage everyone to get moving every day, however slowly!

“Residents have been using Castle every day for the past 50 years, and we thought it was a good idea to celebrate this occasion by offering a wide range of cut-price sessions and events to keep us all on our toes.”

“I would encourage as many residents of Bury as possible to come down on the day and participate and use this as a great opportunity to either continue to do their physical exercise or use this as an opportunity to start a new chapter in moving more and getting fit.”
