Dry stone walling courses at Chesham Local Nature Reserve

Press release -

Dry stone walling courses at Chesham Local Nature Reserve

Learn a traditional skill for free with a dry stone walling course funded by the Bury Natural Greenspace Project.

Master craftsman Carl Watson will guide people through the techniques needed to build a dry stone wall, from foundations to copes, in the picturesque surroundings of Chesham Local Nature Reserve.

Dry stone walls are an important part of the local landscape and are traditional field boundaries in this part of the country.  Dry stone walls also provide an important habitat for wildlife, providing shelter all the year round for small animals such as field mice as well as insects.

The course will run on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September, from 9.45am to 4pm. To book a place on the course, call Jacqui Goggs on 0161 253 7764 or email j.goggs@bury.gov.uk
