Easy does it – with new council website

Making life easier for the borough’s many digital residents is the mission of Bury Council’s new official website - http://www.bury.gov.uk/

Customers should now find it much simpler to engage with the council online - everything from renewing a library book, checking their bin collection days, or booking a squash court.

Now live, the site is far more transactional and easier to navigate for visitors using their PC or, as is increasingly the case, on their smartphone or tablet.

The home page lists the most popular topics that people want to contact the council about, whether to report a problem, find out about school places, or get information about roadworks and planning matters. You can also set up a direct debit or make a claim for council tax support.

Councillor Sandra Walmsley, cabinet member for resource and regulation, said: “So many of us now engage with people online, and we recognised that our website needed to be revamped to reflect what people actually wanted from the site. This should make life much easier for residents to get the information they need and carry out the daily transactions that are so much a part of modern life.”
