Eat Better, Start Better!

Press release -

Eat Better, Start Better!

Youngsters can look forward to a future of healthy meals thanks to a course run for cooks in day nurseries and children’s centres.

The Eat Better, Start Better sessions were arranged by Bury Adult Learning Service and the Children's Centres, Childcare and Early Years Team.

The aim was to help childcare providers to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements for the provision of healthy, balanced and nutritious food and drink.

The first session was theoretical and the second session was a practical session which involved preparing and cooking a chosen dish.

In addition to the six hours of training, the cooks received some publications to help them ensure that every child can eat well, enjoy a varied diet and establish healthy eating habits to take with them into their school years.

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Sharon Briggs, presented certificates to the course participants at Redvales Children’s Centre.
