Fairtrade rockers tie the knot

Newly-weds Rosie and Marc Hall showed their support for Bury’s new Fairtrade Garden when they held their rock ’n’ roll wedding at Bury Registry Office.

“Fairtrade rocks!” announced Rosie, before the couple from Peel Brow jetted off on a two-week
honeymoon in Florida.

Bury’s Fairtrade Garden occupies a prominent position in front of the town hall, and was established
in collaboration with Bury in Bloom, Forever Manchester, and Bury’s Community Fund.

Bernard Emblem, chair of Bury Fairtrade, said: “Rosie is my step-daughter, so I was delighted when
she said she’d like the Fairtrade garden to feature in her wedding photographs.

“We’re very proud of our beautiful new garden, which celebrates Bury’s status as a Fairtrade borough.
It’s a permanent reminder of the town’s commitment to Fairtrade.”

Councillor Peter Bury, the council’s Fairtrade spokesman, said: “The Fairtrade Garden is a welcome and colourful addition to the town hall gardens. I was pleased when we became recognised as a Fairtrade town and this garden is a further commitment by the council to Bury’s Fairtrade status.”
