Final round of successful funding bids by community groups

Local organisations in Ramsbottom, Tottington and North Manor are celebrating after winning money for their projects.

This was the sixth and last in this round of Pitch events at which groups were invited to ‘pitch’ for up to £1,000 each, and the public then voted for their favourites.

The event, which was held at Holcombe Brook Sports and Tennis Club, resulted in 15 organisations receiving council funding.

The six Pitch nights, held in each of the borough’s townships, have resulted in £67,340 being awarded to 72 projects.

The latest successful groups are:

  • Rammy Men
  • Friends of Tottington Library
  • Friends of Nuttall Park
  • Speakeasy
  • Greenmount Cricket Club
  • Communitree
  • Tottington St John’s Cricket Club
  • Tottington Amateur Dramatic Society
  • Tottington and Bury West Rotary Club
  • Merrie Melodies
  • Walmersley Conservative Club (for a community defibrillator)
  • Friends of St John’s Tottington
  • Totty Tots
  • Bloco Ashe
  • Bury Clarion Bullets

Councillor Rishi Shori, leader of Bury Council, said: “My congratulations go to the winners and all those who work so hard to make our borough a great place to live. The Pitch events have been hugely successful, giving local people a direct say in what they want for their neighbourhoods. The next round of Pitches is in the new year, and I am sure they will be every bit as popular.”
