Final works to improve Rochdale Road

The £645,000 scheme to resurface the A58 Rochdale Road in Bury comes to an end this week with three nights of remedial work.

A 220-metre length of surfacing on the west-bound carriageway between Derby Way and the exit from the multi-storey car park on Minden Parade has been identified as not meeting minimum ride quality standards due to a materials failure.

The contractors are now replacing the defective section of the road, at their cost. The work will be carried out between 8pm and 5am, between Wednesday 6 July and Friday 8 July, subject to the weather.

A council spokesman said: “We apologise for any additional disruption caused by these remedial works, but it is important that we receive the best quality of workmanship that we can from our contractors for the benefit of local residents and businesses.

“We further hope that those travelling along the newly resurfaced road will notice the difference and have a more pleasant journey.”
