Fined after building in Green Belt without permission

A Bury man has been fined after he built an access road to his farm on Green Belt land without planning permission.

Brian Davies (aged 48) of Higher Tops Farm, Holcombe pleaded guilty to failing to comply with an enforcement notice requiring him to remove the access track.

He appeared atBury Magistrates Court on 31 October 2014 where he was fined £1,800 and ordered to pay costs of £2,500 and a victim surcharge of £120 (the maximum allowed).

Councillor Sandra Walmsley, cabinet member for resource and regulation, said: “We have a duty to protect Green Belt land from inappropriate development, and will take enforcement action where necessary against people who build on Bury’s Green Belt without the required permission.”
