First show homes unveiled at Roedeer Gardens in Bury

Representatives from Bury Council joined Hive Homes at an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the launch of the first show homes at the Roedeer Gardens residential development in Bury.

Roedeer Gardens, a development of 81 three- and four-bedroom, high-quality family homes for rent and ownership, is being built by contractor Lovell on behalf of developer Hive Homes, on the site of the former Seedfield Centre in Bury.

Cllr Sandra Walmersley, Cabinet Member for Communities and Inclusion, and local ward councillor Babar Ibrahim were joined by representatives from Southway Housing Trust, Hive Homes and Bury Council to tour the new show homes, which are now open to the public.

Roedeer Gardens will feature 21 affordable homes secured via a Section 106 agreement. Of these, six houses will be transferred to a registered provider for shared ownership, nine will be transferred to Bury Council for affordable rent, and six houses will be part of the government’s ‘First Homes’ scheme, offering discounted properties to first-time buyers.

In addition to the residential scheme, new club changing facilities, access improvements to the adjacent playing fields and two new dedicated car parks for use by Seedfield Sports Juniors FC have been provided through a Section 106 contribution totalling £286k.

Councillor Eamonn O’Brien, leader of Bury Council, said: "It’s fantastic to see Roedeer Gardens taking shape and the first show homes now open. This development is a great example of our ‘brownfield first’ approach, turning a derelict site into a thriving community with homes for a range of needs. We’re excited to see families moving in soon and the area coming back to life."

Ed Milner, Managing Director of Hive Homes, said: "Opening the show homes marks a major milestone for Roedeer Gardens. We’re proud to be delivering high-quality, energy-efficient homes that meet the needs of local people, from first-time buyers to growing families. With construction well underway, we’re looking forward to welcoming the first residents in the coming months.

"This development is about more than just homes; it’s about creating a community. Alongside the new properties, we’ve invested in facilities for Seedfield Juniors Football Club and improvements to local infrastructure, ensuring the benefits extend beyond the site itself."
