Fond farewell to long-serving care centre staff

Two members of staff at Pinfold Lane Day Centre have taken early retirement after notching up almost 50 years’ service between them.

Maureen Taylor and Susan McFarland said an emotional farewell to customers and colleagues, past and present, at a party held at the Whitefield centre.

Maureen was a valued member of the domestic staff whose attention to detail in her work ensured that the centre was always looking its best. Susan, meanwhile, started at the centre as a carer and, over her 20-plus years there, worked her way up to be manager. She always had her finger on the ball and was very dedicated to the care and support of those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

  • The centre would love to hear from residents who can join its Carers Support Group for those who are affected by, or know somebody who is affected by, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

This is an open and friendly group, which meets on the last Thursday of each month from 7pm to 9pm. Members talk within the group, or confidentially, about a range of topics and share experiences of caring with those who live with the condition.

A range of professionals regularly attend, plus the occasional guest speaker, to give quality advice about respite care, financial aid, home care and more.

To find out more about the Support Group, call the day centre on 0161 253 7371 or email pinfold.lane@bury.gov.uk
