Foster with Bury takes part in viral Dance Challenge

Bury’s Foster Care team eagerly joined the Jerusalema Dance Challenge to raise awareness of the need for foster carers and the rewards and opportunities it brings.

Staff picked up the gauntlet laid down by local authorities across the land to help spread the message of how fostering plays a vital role in so many children and young people’s lives up and down the country.

The ‘Jerusalema Dance Challenge’ is an example of how dance brings people together, working together for a purpose.

The song behind the dance challenge means ‘go with me, protect me and take me home’, something which resonates with the role of a foster carer; someone who takes in a child or young person and protects them until they can either go back to their family home, permanent foster care or are adopted.

Tony Decrop, assistant director (social care and safeguarding) at Bury Council, said: “It is really great to see Bury fostering service with colleagues taking part in this. It’s a really positive way to raise awareness and hopefully get people talking about fostering and encourage them to make an enquiry about being a foster carer.

“Foster with Bury offers support and guidance on how you can foster in Bury and make a real impact in the lives of local children and young people.”
