Give your old smartphone a new lease of life

Got an old smartphone that still works and the screen isn’t broken? Then drop it off at your local library!

It will be given to one of the estimated 11 million households in the UK who have no access to the internet.

Your phone will be refurbished by Recono.me and will be data-wiped, sanitised and redistributed with user guides and SIM cards.

You can drop off your old smartphone in the book bins that are in the foyer at the borough’s four libraries (Bury, Prestwich, Radcliffe and Ramsbottom) between 10am and 4pm, Tuesdays to Fridays.

This is a GM Libraries project, working in partnership with O2 and Hubbub.

  • Don’t forget about our free Digital Skills courses in the New Year! The realities of lockdown and social distancing have shown how valuable digital skills are, with shopping, work, education and connecting with family and friends all happening online. Phone 0161 253 5772 to book your place on our free tablet and smartphone courses or go towww.bury.gov.uk/digitalskills.
