Going Green at opening of new outreach base

Bury residents are invited to come along and celebrate the opening of a brand new facility: The Green @ Clarence Park, Walmersley Road, Bury.

As well as housing a new community café operated by a local catering company A Touch of Class, The Green will also act as a new outreach base for learning disability day services.

The old bowling lodge has undergone a major renovation, including superb toilet facilities, a café, a new home for the bowling teams and a thriving hub for the local community.

The grand opening will be held on Tuesday 4 November and will include a host of family events.

Between 1-2pm, dignitaries and special guests will attend the opening of the new premises with The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Michelle Wiseman, cutting the ribbon. Youngsters from St John with St Mark Primary School choir will mark the occasion with a performance.

Then from 2-4.30pm the wider community are invited to join the celebrations, with a range of sports
activities provided by the I Will If You Will team, live music and a grand prize raffle.

Councillor Rishi Shori, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “This is a fantastic new centre which will be a hub for the whole community. I invite all local residents to come along, enjoy the day and take a look around the new facilities.”
