Golfers back Mayor of Bury’s charity tournament

They raised £1,000 for the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity and Bury Hospice at the 27th annual tournament, which was held at Stand Golf Club.

Some 35 players took part, comprising staff from Bury Council and its business partners and suppliers. Prizes were awarded by the mayor and her consort, Mr John Smith, and donations were raffled to help boost the total.

The mayor said: “We were very pleased to attend the charity golf tournament dinner and we enjoyed it very much.

“Thanks to everyone for all their hard work in making it such a successful event, and ‘well done’ on raising so much money for my chosen charities this year. Many thanks to Stand Golf Club for hosting the event and for all their support for the mayoral charities over the years.”
