Have your say on improvement options for Whitefield

Bury Council have launched a new public consultation to get community feedback about proposals to upgrade two key sites in Whitefield. The improvements mark the start of the delivery phase of the adopted Whitefield Town Centre Plan.

The improvement projects focus on Victoria Park and the public space at the corner of Church Lane and Bury New Road. Some of the potential changes include tree works, colourful planting schemes, access and entrance improvements, and adding new signage, seating and bins.

Whitefield Town Centre Plan sets out the vision of Bury Council and the Whitefield community for how the town can develop and improve, identifying short, medium and long-term proposals and priorities.

To support some of these works, funding has been secured through the UK Government’s Local Growth Place Flexible Grant.

Councillor Eamonn O’Brien, Leader and Cabinet Member for Strategic Growth, said: “The people of Whitefield have been critical to driving the Whitefield Town Centre Plan forward alongside the council, and we’re looking forward to finding out what changes they would most like to see at these two prominent sites.

“While delivery of the plan is in the early stages, there are already some great ideas for both the sites we’re consulting on. We’re eager to know which improvements would make the biggest impact on Whitefield, and I would encourage as many people as possible to consider the options and share their feedback and ideas.”

After the consultation ends, feedback will be used to prioritise the improvement options. Finalised plans will then be shared before work begins.

To fully involve local people in the delivery of the Whitefield town Centre Plan, Bury Council is working together with Proffitts Investing in Communities.
