Have your say on the future of local housing

Press release -

Have your say on the future of local housing

Residents from all walks of life are invited to have their say on how Bury can meet its housing needs in the coming years.

Bury Council has published its draft Housing Strategy 2013-23, and wants to hear your views during the official consultation period which runs from 1 October to 26 November.

The strategy will look at five areas:

·  Sufficient and suitable supply of housing

·  Affordability

·  Empty properties

·  Good quality accommodation

·  Partnership development

The strategy will be available to read at council buildings and libraries and on the council’s website at www.bury.gov.uk/housingstrategy. Focus groups will be arranged for people to have their say – details on the website.

Councillor Rishi Shori, cabinet member for adult care, health and housing, said: “Housing is something we all have an interest in, whether you own or rent your house, or are struggling to get onto the property ladder or find the right home. I urge residents to take a look at our draft strategy and give us your views on how we can best meet the housing demand in Bury over the next decade and beyond.”

If you have any queries, would like to attend one of the focus groups or require the document in an accessible format, call Rebecca Shellard on 0161 253 6252 or email r.shellard@bury.gov.uk
