Press release -

Helping residents get online

Council staff were busy helping Bury residents enter the digital era by holding a series of events during national Get Online Week.

Visitors to Bury Library, Radcliffe Library and Whittaker Street were given advice about using their tablet, iPad or smart phone, and tips on how to use price comparision websites, do their shopping online, and use apps and Skype.

Staff also showed them how to use Bury Council’s new improved website for a wide range of things, from checking bin collection dates to renewing a library book, booking a sports session or reporting a problem.

The sessions were so popular that a number of visitors have booked for further free computer and internet courses.

The council’s new website is: http://www.bury.gov.uk/
