Huge success of local Covid vaccination centres

Bury’s civic Covid vaccination centres have delivered more than 400,000 jabs during the pandemic.

After being in continuous use for two years, the sites in Bury, Prestwich, Ramsbottom and Radcliffe are now being returned to their traditional use – although people can still get their Covid jabs at NHS and other locations. Go to GetMyJab.GM.co.uk for details.

The figures show the total number of Covid vaccines delivered at the sites are as follows:

• Elizabethan Suite: 120,523
• Ramsbottom Civic Centre: 104,304
• Prestwich Walk-In Centre: 63,828
• Bealey Hospital: 39,828

Cllr Tamoor Tariq, cabinet member for adult care, health and wellbeing, said: “I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to the wonderful staff and volunteers who have worked at our vaccination sites over the past two years. Their efforts have kept many thousands of people in Bury from becoming seriously ill, or worse, during the pandemic.”

Across all sites in Bury, including GP surgeries, hospitals and pharmacies, some 450,000 vaccines have been delivered. Fairfield Hospital carried out 52k vaccinations, and the highest figures at pharmacies were 18k at Barash and 17k at Strachan’s.
