It’s party time!

A huge range of attractions awaits families at the annual Party in the Park, held at Openshaw Park on Sunday 1 July (12-4pm).

Sport, music, food and entertainment will provide an afternoon of fun at the Rochdale Road venue.

The Army will be there, with paintballing and recruitment activities; sports coaches with taster sessions; Wheels for All bicycles to try out; rounders matches and a penalty shoot-out; welly-throwing for under-10s; and face and henna painting.

There will also be a mobile police station and information stalls from Six Town Housing and the Rotary Club, plus teams from waste management, community safety and health and wellbeing, and dementia awareness.

Visitors can tuck into tea and cake and a variety of Polish and Asian foods, to the sounds of DJ Tommy K, a brass band and traditional singing.

Councillor Tamoor Tariq, cabinet member for communities and safer neighbourhoods, said: “This is a great family event with something for everyone, which really brings the community together. Bring a picnic, enjoy the fun – all we need is the sun to shine and it will be perfect!”
