Keeping our children safe – sharing is caring

Families, communities and professionals are encouraged to share their experiences and practical advice during national Child Safety Week (5-11 June).

The campaign, produced by the Child Accident Prevention Trust, aims to raise awareness of accidents that can seriously injure or kill children, and helping people to get make informed decisions about safety.

Bury Council’s road safety team will be delivering pedestrian training at local primary schools during Child Safety Week to help children develop life skills.

The team will also be holding five child car seat clinics across the borough in July, all from 10.30am to 3pm:

  • Thursday 6 July - Aldi Bury (Crostons Retail Park)
  • Friday 7 July - Aldi Ramsbottom
  • Tuesday 11 July - Asda Pilsworth
  • Wednesday 12 July - Asda Radcliffe
  • Friday 14 July – Tesco Prestwich

Jan Brabin, senior road safety officer at Bury Council, said: “Previous child car seat clinics have been very popular with parents, who can be reassured that their child car seat is suitable for their child, suitable for their vehicle and is fitted correctly in their vehicle. Anyone who needs advice, resources and wants their child car seat checked for free should attend.”

The CAPT has produced a free action pack with safety facts and tips, plus audio and video clips, quizzes and competitions. The pack can be downloaded from http://www.childsafetyweek.org.uk/
